artist statement

My artwork is primarily mixed media 2D and small sculpture using elements of foraged, found, upcycled and nature inspired materials and imagery. I often work from very loose ideas combining materials, modalities and textures to eventually dictate the outcome of the finished piece. 

I am fueled by the curiosity and exploration of how various process oriented approaches can be integrated to create works that evoke the notion of biotic storytelling, passage of time and ongoing change.

The use of existing upcycled, foraged and found materials is a conscious attempt at reducing the impact of creating more goods in the world. I feel mother nature is the ultimate artist and aspire to create works that reflect a deeply respectful relationship between artist and nature.
